Delivering Help and Hope at Estes

Back in 1931 a Virginia farmer named W.W. Estes recognized that his cattle-ranching neighbors lacked convenient options for getting their livestock to market. He decided to take a chance and enter the shipping business. And by meeting real needs during tough times, his fledgling company —which has since become America’s largest, privately held carrier — set a precedent that guides it and its more than 17,000 employees to this day. Our ability to deliver both help and hope is garnering attention. In October 2018, we were honored to receive the American Logistics Aid Network’s (ALAN) Employee Engagement Award for our work with The Home Depot delivering cleaning supplies, food, and hydration to the Florida Keys following Hurricane Irma — one of the costliest tropical cyclones on record. ALAN’s Humanitarian Logistics Awards recognize companies and individuals that exemplify the supply chain’s best by assuring the rapid delivery of aid and comfort to communities in crisis. And, we’re excited to take giving back to our communities to the next level this season with our Employee-Directed Giving Campaign, which benefits nearly two dozen charities and causes.
